Understanding Hat Fashion; Do you get it?
If you are a fashion lover and keep up with what the press is telling you the new style is, you will often notice that hats reclaim their territory at the top of the seasons must have accessories.
This season is among them, but whats new is the variety of shapes, brims, heights and trims that complement the “anything goes” attitude of mixing various styles. Wondering how to choose the right topper? There are many theories - the simplest is the rule of opposites.
What THEY Say:
Long faces should choose wide brims and round faces should try something taller with a narrow brim. (I would disagree).
What I Say:
I think almost any one, no matter their shape, height, or proportion can pull off any type of hat. The key is knowing your limits and finding the correct proportion of height and brim to your face and body type.
I recommend not limiting yourself by saying you only wear certain types of hats such as large brims. Instead, try on a different proportioned fascinator that may be large enough and looks great on you. Ultimately, its about having fun. Experiment until you find the one that suits your look, taste and personality. Choosing the right hat should do its job as an accessory - it should complement you and your outfit and keep the attention on you rather than your hat.
